A farewell that took over the city

When Bob Hund ended their long live career with the final concert Slutscenen at Zinkensdamms IP on 30 August 2025, the event became more than a historic moment for Swedish music. Together with the City of Stockholm, Stockholm Business Region, the band and the organiser, the farewell expanded into a full week of activities across Södermalm – with Medborgarplatsen as the main gathering place and sustainable food as a recurring theme.

Music, public spaces and city life

During Bob Hund Week, 25–30 August, Stockholmers and visitors were invited to a creative programme featuring food trucks, talks, music, exhibitions, upcycling activities and a public parade through the city towards Zinkensdamm. The initiative turned public spaces into part of the event itself, giving the concert a much broader presence across the city.

Future festival food at Medborgarplatsen

One key part of the collaboration was Istället för Bob Hund: MATVAGN, where the band’s identity and history were interpreted as the festival food of the future. Together with researchers and innovators from PLATE, LiveGreen, Axfoundation / Torsåker Gård and chef Tau Mandéus, meals were developed based on principles for more sustainable and resilient food systems.

The collaboration explored how food can address climate impact, health, preparedness and sustainability – while still being enjoyable and accessible.

Sustainability through culture and experiences

At Medborgarplatsen, visitors could taste the food, meet researchers and take part in conversations about the future of food. Through exhibitions, design, music and public activities, sustainability became something tangible and engaging rather than purely informational.

A cultural event creating value for the city

For the City of Stockholm and Stockholm Business Region, the collaboration became an example of how cultural events can activate the city and create value far beyond the event venue itself. Bob Hund’s final concert helped strengthen Stockholm as an event destination while also showing how music and culture can be used to highlight important societal topics in new and creative ways.

As research, food innovation, music and city life came together at Medborgarplatsen, the farewell to Bob Hund also became a story about the future of Stockholm – open, creative and sustainable.
